Sustainable Places Project

Siglo Group worked as part of a team to support the growing cities of Elgin, Hutto, Dripping Springs, and Lockhart as they planned for the future.  Siglo used the Envision Tomorrow GIS analytic tool to evaluate numerous land-use scenarios, showing how they would affect each area’s jobs-housing balance, population growth, diversity of employment and housing types, open space, and energy consumption.  The fiscal impact of each land-use scenario was projected as well.  Siglo also used the Envision Tomorrow model and scenario planning at public input workshops.  The Sustainable Places Project was funded through a HUD grant and was managed by the Capital Area Council of Governments.  Siglo was on the local planning team led by McCann Adams Studio and other partners included the University of Texas and Fregonese Associates.
