Glendale Regional Park is being developed on Salt Lake City’s west side. This 17-acre project along the Jordan River is crucial for the city and community, addressing the lack of park space and public amenities. Due to its previous use, the site has suffered severe degradation, including compacted soils, invasive species, and the absence of native plant communities.

Phase 1 covers the western half of the site and will feature restored natural areas, a nature play area, versatile park and programming spaces, and the main parking lot. Construction is set to begin in late 2024. Siglo Group has played a pivotal role in Phase 1 by ensuring ecologically functional design, supporting SITES certification, and directing restoration efforts. Siglo Group worked closely with the client and the design team, led by Design Workshop, to balance ecological considerations with programming and costs. This collaboration resulted in effective invasive species management, biodiverse plantings, and green infrastructure integration. Siglo Group will continue to ensure the implementation of these components through construction observation.

Siglo Group is guiding Salt Lake City’s Natural Lands team in establishing test plots for Phase 2. The goal is to create a replicable process for city staff to establish native plant communities, optimize watering techniques, identify necessary soil amendments, and determine the most suitable plant palette for the Jordan River corridor. Additionally, Siglo Group is part of the design team awarded Phase II of the project, which will include substantial ecological and climate-aware landscapes.
