Barton Creek West Ecological Master Plan

Siglo Group was commissioned by the Barton Creek West Open Space Committee to complete an Ecological Master Plan for the 402-acre Barton Creek West Greenbelt with Environmental Survey Consulting. The goal of this work was to build a foundation of information and a blueprint for long-term management, enjoyment, and appreciation of the site.

The process included four components: data acquisition, baseline assessment, natural resource management planning, and community use evaluation. All components built on one another towards a final report that described the ecological significance of the site with recommendations for best management practices over a 10-year time frame. Additionally, it included guidance for enhancing community use and appreciation of the greenbelt.

The final 86-page report included a description of the ecological characteristics of the site; a natural area management plan; plant, bird, and animal species lists; direction and guidance for community involvement; supporting maps and photos; and a large-scale Barton Creek West Greenbelt map.
